Julia Roberts may be one of Hollywood’s most celebrated stars, but for Andrew Garfield, his After the Hunt co-star is so much more than that.
Following the official release of the psychological drama/thriller, the cast members lit up the red carpet as they graced the 2025 BFI London Film Festival on Saturday evening.
Joining Roberts and Garfield were Ayo Edebiri, Thaddea Graham and Michael Stuhlbarg as well as director Luca Guadagnino.
For the premiere of the movie, the 42-year-old actor revealed what it was like working with the Notting Hill star.
According to him, the team rehearsed After the Hunt at the actress’ home in San Francisco.
Garfield went on to praise the A-lister but shared an unexpected detail about the actress.
“She’s like an iconic movie star that also happens to be the coziest human being you could spend time with,” he said, adding, “Great chef and the banana bread is unparalleled.”
While revealing a sweet secret about his co-star, the 57-year-old actress tried to hold back her laughter, clearly amused by his words.
Fans couldn’t get enough of the actor’s revelation, calling it proof of just how close the two were on and off the set.
“Garfield praises Roberts’ warmth, iconic presence and unbeatable banana bread,” a commenter said.
Others playfully commented about the actress’ “secret weapon” which is her baking skills.
“Julia Roberts’ banana bread might be the real star here. Andrew Garfield spilling the tea and the carbs,” one wrote.
“Hmm, so Julia’s secret weapon is banana bread, not just talent,” a social media user said.
After the Hunt is the award-winning star’s return to the big screen after her 2023 film Leave the World Behind.
During her guest appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, she revealed what attracted her to join the cast lineup of the movie.
“It’s something different for me,” she said, adding that another factor was the director Luca Guadagnino, whom she described as “exceptional.”
Taking on the role of a college philosophy professor named Alma Imhoff, the story unfolds at Yale University in 2019, in the aftermath of the #MeToo movement.
The film follows Imhoff, who is about to reach her career milestone but finds herself falling apart after one life-changing night.
At the time, her fellow professor and close friend played by Garfield joined a gathering at her apartment together with a former student portrayed by Edebiri.
However, what seemed like an ordinary evening of gathering and conversation soon spiraled into chaos.
