John Travolta is sharing a special tribute to his late wife, Kelly Preston, five years after her death. The 71-year-old Grease star remains devoted to his wife of nearly 30 years despite her untimely passing at the age of 57.
In a social media post, Travolta shared a heartfelt tribute to Preston, including a song he wrote and recorded in her honor.
He wrote, “Recorded this song for Kelly and I want to share it with you all on her birthday. Happy birthday Kelly, we love you. – John, Ella and Ben.”
The actor also shared a stunning picture of Preston, complete with her megawatt smile. Fans were able to listen to Travolta’s emotional recording.
“So beautiful, John, as was she. Sending you love and strength on this day,” wrote one fan in response to Travolta’s tribute. Another added, “Literally listening to this beautiful song 🎶 over and over again, here in New Orleans. RIP.”
How Did Kelly Preston Die?
Kelly Preston dazzled movie fans with grace and beauty in hit films like Twins and Gotti—which she co-starred in with Travolta—and most notably Jerry Maguire.
Preston was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018 and lived with the disease for two years until she passed away in 2020. The couple had two children, Ella Bleu and Benjamin, as well as a son, Jett, who died at age 16 in 2009.

Despite the untimely passing of both his wife and son, Travolta has committed his life after Preston’s death to his children, and to honoring Preston’s memory. The actor regularly posts tributes to his late wife on her birthday and on Mother’s Day.
Though Travolta has focused more on family and less on his career since Preston’s passing, he later reported that he was “embracing living again” and was seen at the Olympics with daughter Ella.
Despite his grief, Travolta remains committed to keeping the memory of Preston and his son Jett alive.
