Contemporary Christian and pop singer-songwriter Amy Grant’s performace Tuesday at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts in Wilkes-Barre promises to be an evening of songs, stories and memories.

Grant emerged from contemporary Christian music as a teenager, writing a song at age 16. Her first, self-titled album was released shortly before her high school graduation.

She later branched out into pop, with 10 Top 40 pop singles and 17 Top 40 adult contemporary tracks and many Christian cotemporary hits.

Her biggest hit, “Baby Baby” went to No. 1 on the pop charts in 1991. It’s a love song in the music video, but it was inspired by her daughter Millie, an infant at the time. That track is on the tentative set list for Tuesday, according to tour publicist Debra Akins.

Her contemporary Christian hits include “I Have Decided,” and “Believe.” “Lead Me On” is on the tentative set list, along with several other Christian songs.

Overall, it adds up to more than 30 million albums worldwide, including three multi-platinum, six platinum, and four gold, and over a billion global streams.

She has six Grammy Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She was most recently inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, where she lives.

Grant is working a new album and collaborating with Mac McAnally, a musician who worked with Jimmy Buffet for 40 years.

Grant has been through a lot in recent years. She had open-heart surgery in 2020 to treat a rare heart defect. In 2022, she was thrown from her bike after hitting a pothole and was unconscious for several minutes. Doctors said her helmet saved her life. Grant suffered memory loss and an episode of depression. Then a five-hour surgery to remove a cyst in her throat meant she had to learn to sing again.

Grant will perform at the same venue her husband of 25 years, county star Vince Gill, visited in May. The pair have recorded a few duets, perform Christmas shows together and released a Christmas album last year.

Other than that, the couple doesn’t often work together. In a 2024 interview, Gill explained why. Having become stars separately in different genres “we knew we didn’t want to all of a sudden be Donnie and Marie or Sonny and Cher or whoever.”

The show is at 7:30 p.m. The doors open at 6 p.m.

Online, tickets begin at $87.35, including fees, at ticketmaster.com and KirbyCenter.org. http://kirbycenter.com. Tickets are also available at the box office at 71 Public Square or  by calling 570-826-1100. Box office hours are: Monday through Friday, 10a.m. to 5 p.m. and prior to the show.
