Prince William and Kate Middleton are set to move into their new permanent residence in Windsor by November 5, according to reports.
Builders have been working non-stop to expedite the moving date, it has been revealed. The Royal couple will transition from Adelaide Cottage to the adjacent Forest Lodge in Windsor, Berkshire, once renovations are complete, which is expected to be in a few weeks.
Last month, authorities established a 150-acre security perimeter around the property, causing some local residents’ annoyance. However, these safety precautions are designed to safeguard William, Kate, and their children, including 12 year old Prince George, who begins high school next fall. It’s believed that staff are currently moving the family’s possessions into the newly refurbished eight-bedroom Georgian mansion located in Windsor Great Park. An insider shared: “It is hoped they will be in the new home in time for Bonfire Night. That will make a fun start for the children.”
William and Kate, both aged 43, are reportedly eager to provide a “fresh start” for their three children, which also include ten year old Princess Charlotte and seven year old Prince Louis. In 2022, the couple relocated their children from Kensington Palace to Adelaide Cottage, a quaint four-bedroom house in Berkshire, to be closer to William’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, reports the Mirror.
But she passed away within weeks of their relocation, marking the beginning of a string of family ordeals that encompassed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s bitter Netflix documentary series released in December of that year, along with Prince Harry‘s harsh tell-all book titled Spare.
The source revealed to the Daily Mail: “Adelaide Cottage really does have some difficult memories associated with it, sadly. They have experienced some of their most challenging times there… The family are really happy about this [move] and excited for a fresh start.”
Last year, both the princess and King Charles received cancer diagnoses. The mother-of-three Kate endured an intense regimen of preventative chemotherapy, with William characterizing the experience of standing by his wife while shielding their children as “brutal.”
While Kate has now entered remission, it’s believed her battle represented the final hardship she and William wished to face before choosing to relocate. Construction crews are now working around the clock to ensure the family can settle into their new home next month, according to reports.
A second source revealed: “The builders have been working flat out, week-in, week-out, so that the family could move in as soon as possible. Christmas was always the deadline but it’s great that it’s going to happen much earlier.”
Kensington Palace has confirmed that the Royal couple plans to stay in Forest Lodge even after they ascend to the throne, marking a departure from recent tradition. The Waleses have personally financed the move and renovation, and will be paying market rent to the Crown Estate.
Kate, originally from Berkshire, has been actively involved in refurbishing the property. The mother has visited several UK companies, including Marina Mill in Kent, to learn about textile printing as part of her efforts to make Forest Lodge her cherished home.
