While sources say Meghan Markle has been feeling “lost” lately, the Duchess of Sussex and her husband appeared to exhibit signs of “inner tension” as they grabbed dinner with Ed Sheeran in New York City.
Over the weekend, Meghan and Prince Harry were photographed departing SoHo House following their meal with the Thinking Out Loud chart-topper. The upscale members-only establishment attracts A-list celebrities and offers an array of mouth-watering cuisines including Italian favorites like handcrafted pastas and wood-fired pizzas.
The venue also carries sentimental significance for the Sussexes since it’s the same restaurant where Meghan and Prince Harry enjoyed their first date, though they had originally met at the establishment’s London location. Body language expert Judi James has since analyzed the images, and described the group as sharing a “fun-fueled evening” together but also noted signs of some underlying “tension.”
In an interview with The Express US, she said, “With his red shiny face pulled into a rounded-cheek grin it looks from Harry’s body language that he has had a very good, fun-fueled evening in the company of Ed Sheeran.”
Taking notice of the Duchess of Sussexes body language, Judi observed, “In contrast Meghan looks fresh and elegant as though she’s about to start a night out rather than close it.”
She went on to note, “Meghan is in full celebrity mode here, with her back arched and her arms outstretched and fingers splayed as she makes her way down the steps. She’s also doing the celebrity body language thing of smiling at the ground, with the downward pointing eyes providing a cut-off to make her look in contrast to more desperate, camera-hungry celebs.”
Throughout the evening, Meghan appeared radiant and glowing, donning an elegant floor-length strapless grey-and-black tweed gown. Meanwhile, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, exuded refinement and elegance while sporting a sharp navy blue suit complemented by a pristine white dress shirt beneath.
Noting the body language between Meghan and Harry, Judi added, “The splayed and rather rigid-fingered hand hints at some inner tension here though and Harry has his arm around her waist as though keen to support and protect her.”

Their companion Ed maintained a relaxed vibe for the night, opting for camouflage cargo pants matched with a basic short-sleeved black t-shirt, displaying his vibrant tattoo artwork.
Ed has maintained a bond with Prince Harry dating back to at least 2019, when they collaborated on a video promoting World Mental Health Day. Following that partnership, Ed has been seen alongside the Sussexes on several occasions, including at an intimate garden gathering with WellChild Awards recipients in 2021.
Ed made a trip to New York City to promote his new album and film an upcoming Netflix special titled ‘One Shot with Ed Sheeran.’ The special, directed by Emmy award-winning director Philip Barantini, is set to premiere on the streaming platform on Nov. 21.
The project will follow Ed as he spends an afternoon traversing the streets of New York City, performing some of his songs. The special will be filmed in one continuous shot and will feature Ed’s spontaneous performances and interactions with fans as he navigates the bustling sidewalks and subways of the city.
During his time in NYC, Ed has also been seen giving surprise performances for fans, including a pop-up show at Brooklyn’s KidSuper with Megan Moroney, as well as a performance at Domino Square.
As for the Sussexes, the famous couple also visited New York to attend the Project Healthy Minds’ annual World Mental Health Day Gala on Oct. 9. At the event, Meghan and Prince Harry were honored with the Humanitarians of the Year Award.
