Meghan Markle experienced an uncomfortable encounter while meeting royal supporters during her last visit to the UK in 2022.
The Duchess of Sussex hasn’t returned to Prince Harry‘s homeland in three years.
Her most recent journey was in September 2022 for Queen Elizabeth’s state funeral.
While in England, the Sussexes accompanied the Prince and Princess of Wales in meeting royal admirers gathered outside Windsor Castle following the beloved monarch’s death.
The royals interacted with supporters and reviewed tribute messages left for the late Queen.
The duchess, who earned recognition for her composed response, quickly proceeded to the following supporter, apparently unaware of the slight.
Body language specialist Judi James commented at the time, “It’s a tough call to be ignored close-up in public like this, and having the offer of a handshake refused will add to the sense of rejection.
“But Meghan seems to draw on her experience as an actress to minimise the impact as elegantly and calmly as possible.”
She further noted, “Meghan touches the arm of another woman, shakes with the one next to her, but then manages to avoid turning a snub into a drama by picking that rhythm up again with people who are extending a hand and barely missing a beat as she does.
“There’s no sign of a negative response from Meghan and this would be important as it could go either way.”
