Robert Irwin is taking his love of animals to the big screen.
Every Tuesday night, Dancing With the Stars fans have the chance to see Robert compete for the mirrorball trophy in season 34. But while he’s busy dancing his way to the top, it turns out the wildlife conservationist and zookeeper has another major career move up his sleeve.
As Robert revealed on TikTok on October 10, he’s joining the cast of the upcoming Disney movie Zootopia 2 (in theaters on November, 26, 2025). But that’s not all, because he also gave his followers a first look at his animated character, a koala aptly called “Robert Furwin.” And if you’re wondering how Robert feels about being part of the film, well, he seems thrilled about the prospect.
“OK, very exciting news! I’m voicing a Disney character in the new Zootopia 2 movie,” he exclaimed in the clip. “I wanna show you, for the first time… here he is! Keep an eye out—I voice a koala by the name of Robert Furwin. That’s him! Yes, you heard right—Robert Furwin, the koala. Look at him! Look at his little uniform! He looks just like me! This is so cool! Like, childhood dream come true. I am so excited.”
Given how Robert’s career revolves around working alongside his family at the Australia Zoo, seeing him be part of a Disney movie that’s all about zoo animals had viewers going wild online.
“Robert Irwin is the closest thing to a real life Disney prince as we can get 😩,” one person wrote in the comments. “So basically Robert Irwin is voicing himself as a koala 🥰,” another declared. “Probably the only reason I’m gonna watch Zootopia 2,” a a different follower added.
Well, we certainly didn’t see this coming from Robert! But we must say, this feels fitting given how he wowed audiences with a Cha Cha dance routine to “Try Everything” from the original Zootopia movie as part of Dancing With the Stars’official Disney Night on October 7.
Clearly that was a easter egg for his next big role… and we’re all for it!
