Publisher Chucklefish and co-developer Robotality have some sad news for fans of their upcoming magical life simulator game Witchbrook. The game was originally set to launch in Winter 2025, but has now been delayed to sometime in 2026.
Fortunately, the developers didn’t just have bad news to share; they’ve also given players a closer look at Witchbrook’s in-game map.
Life simulator game Witchbrook gets delayed to 2026
In a dev blog post, co-developers Chucklefish and Robotality shared an update on Witchbrook. The charming life simulator game has made waves online since its debut, thanks to its gorgeous pixel art, magical school gameplay loop, and cosy aesthetics.
The game was originally scheduled to launch in Winter 2025, but the developers note that “despite great development progress this year, we’ve made the difficult decision to shift the release into next year.”
The delay doesn’t seem to be a sign of a troubled game development cycle, however. The blog post affirms that Witchbrook is “taking shape exactly as we hoped; full of charm, depth and detail,” though it needs time “to ensure the world feels rich, immersive, and alive.”
The developers note that the extra development time this delay has afforded will allow them to explore more in-game features “including additional platforms and language support we hadn’t initially planned!”
Witchbrook’s new in-game map revealed
To ensure that it’s not all bad news, the blog post also includes a reveal for Witchbrook’s in-game map, located in a region named Mossport. The developers didn’t share a simple image file either, but an entire interactive map for players to explore and take in before the game releases.
Judging by the interactive map, Mossport appears to be a rather dense location for players to explore. The developers note that all “the coloured areas you see here on the map are playable areas,” which seems to include the large forest and crops of foliage that take up half of the map’s space.
Points of interest include the Shadhollow Forest, Parasol Sands, Whitecap Esplanade, and more–even the magical school players will attend consists of multiple smaller locations worth exploring.
Chucklefish and Robotality plan to share more development updates on Witchbrook later this year, including a blog focused on character customisation. Witchbrook is now set to launch sometime in 2026.
