Keanu Reeves’ new movie, Good Fortune, has recieved positive reviews from critics so far. The film centers on an angel named Gabriel who tries to improve the lives of both a gig worker and a privileged venture capitalist. However, his interference soon results in unexpected twists. Directed by and co-starring Aziz Ansari, the film has impressed reviewers with its sharp humor and brilliant performances.

Michael Rechtshaffen of The Hollywood Reporter noted that the film delivers “genuine laughs” with its “heartfelt” homage. However, he added, “The end result can’t escape feeling like a hodgepodge, incapable of cohesively blending the satirical elements with the earnest messaging foremost on its mind.” However, he still praised the ensemble cast and the “breezily improvised” humor that makes the film enjoyable throughout.

In a more positive review, Barry Hertz of The Globe and Mail commended Aziz Ansari’s return to big-screen comedy. He wrote, “We should praise the heavens that Lionsgate presented Aziz Ansari with enough money to make the consistently funny Good Fortune for the big screen.”

Meanwhile, Brian Tallerico of RogerEbert.com described the film as “a vehicle for the comedic charm of its cast,” namely Reeves, Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer, and Ansari. Praising Ansari’s comedic timing, he added, “Palmer is charming every time, and that’s certainly the case here, even if she doesn’t exactly have enough chemistry with Ansari. Rogen is typically great, selling the arc of a rich guy who learns how the other side lives the hard way.”

Joe Schmidt from Collider described Good Fortune as “an entertaining attempt.” He emphasized that its humor and strong performances make it a worthwhile watch.
