The Cure have issued an update on their next album, revealing they recorded 13 new songs earlier this year.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed on October 15th that the biography section of the band’s website had been updated to include their activity throughout 2025 following the release of Songs of a Lost World last year.

A new section of their website reads: “In March 2025 the band went back into Rockfield Studios to record 13 more songs for a follow up album.”

In a further update, the biography section on their website also detailed plans to release a live concert film.

The message reads, “In June Robert guested with Olivia Rodrigo on a couple of Cure songs during her Glastonbury headline show, before heading back into the studio to help re-edit and re-mix The Show Of A Lost World film.”

The Cure began their Shows of a Lost World tour in 2022, which ran through until the end of 2023, and included stops across mainland Europe, the United Kingdom, North America and South America.

Although there was previously a 16-year wait for Songs of a Lost World, frontman Robert Smith had previously revealed that The Cure hoped to quickly begin work on a follow-up.

During an interview with Radio X in January, before The Cure entered Rockfield, Smith said of the project: “There’s three songs on it which are slower than pretty much anything on this album. So I don’t know, it may well end up being heavier than this one.”

He also said that it will “hopefully” arrive “before summer”, which has now passed. However, The Cure have announced a batch of tour dates throughout the summer of 2026, which could align with their next album.

In addition to headlining a series of European festivals, including Primavera Sound, Rock En Seine, North Festival, Rock Werchter, Way Out West, Øya Festival, and Electric Castle, they will also head out on a UK and Ireland tour.

Next summer, The Cure are set for huge outdoor shows in Manchester, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast, Dublin, and also headline the Isle of Wight Festival.
