In a recent interaction, Jeremy Allen White and Bruce Springsteen sat down to talk about the former’s upcoming film about the latter’s life. Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere is all set to make its theatrical debut this month, with significant anticipation building around the music movie.

During the Q&A hosted by Spotify, among other discussions that took place in the studio, Springsteen seemed happy with how good he looked on screen, wondering how he never did so in real life.

Bruce Springsteen was taken aback by Jeremy Allen White’s good looks

As the conversation between Bruce Springsteen and Jeremy Allen White progressed, several revelations emerged about the film and its preparation. From Springsteen turning up on the set multiple times to White learning guitar to embody the iconic singer, there was a lot that happened at the session.

White said the preparation and focus he required for the role were quite intense, and he admitted to being anxious about the performance. “A lot of my energy was going into the musical component of the film,” he said (via The Guardian). Ultimately, the actor recorded his versions of the song, and that ended up giving him some confidence. Moreover, Springsteen also sent him a 1955 Gibson J-200, which was the closest to the guitar used for Nebraska.

Springsteen went on to shed light on his changing views on the film, beginning with a much less complicated note. “I figured I’m 76 years old, I don’t really care what the fuck I do any more,” he said initially. But as the film progressed, things grew more complicated for the legendary musician. He ended up visiting the set often and apologized to White for it.

“It’s gotta be really weird with the guy’s stupid ass standing there,” he said, “I’ve said this before, but I kept thinking ‘Damn, when did I get that good-looking?”

Springsteen also admitted that he was more than impressed with White’s performance. He added, “His performance was totally from the inside out, not just picking elements and wearing them like clothes…It’s a non-imitative performance, but somehow it greatly relates to my story and myself.”

Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere will release on October 24, 2025.
