JuJutsu Kaisen’s English dub cast is sharing what they think happens next after the success of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle
The latest Demon Slayer film recently became the highest-grossing international film ever in the U.S.
“Hollywood will try to look at this and be like, ‘Oh, man, anime films, let’s go, right?’ But I think the true formula to an anime film’s success is you really need those build up seasons,” voice actor Kaiji Tang said
After the success of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle at the U.S. box office in October, voice actors are predicting where Hollywood might take things next for other beloved anime series.
Speaking with Polygon at New York Comic Con, in an interview published on Sunday, Oct. 12, the English dub voice cast of JuJutsu Kaisen opened up about the potential impact of Demon Slayer’s success on the big screen.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle, which made its stateside theatrical debut from Sony’s Crunchyroll on Sept. 12, recently became the highest-grossing international film ever in the U.S. It totaled $128.5 million domestically and earned $128.6 million and counting, per estimates from Box Office Mojo.
“Hollywood will try to look at this and be like, ‘Oh, man, anime films, let’s go, right?’ But I think the true formula to an anime film’s success is you really need those build up seasons,” said Kaiji Tang, who voices Gojo in JuJutsu Kaisen.
“You need to have followed the story for two, three, four years. To see the culmination of that story, or at least a very big part of it, on the big screen is kind of a reward for being there for all those seasons,” he added. “That’s when you get the huge Demon Slayer numbers. That’s when you get all these fans hype for the movie, that’s the secret.”
Tang concluded, “I think if you just started releasing random anime movies, you’re not going to get the Demon Slayer numbers.”

Robbie Daymond, who voices Megumi Fushiguro in the English dub, told Polygon that he was “honored to be the last generation of boots on the ground voice actors doing anime.”
“I’ll say it out: Once those corpos get a hold of it, it’s just gonna be a bunch of celebs poorly dubbing anime, and hopefully they do a great job. I wish them well. That’s pure bitterness,” he said, as Tang floated the idea of Chris Pratt voicing Gojo.
The latest Demon Slayer film also became the highest-grossing anime film in North America, surpassing classics such asYour Name, Spirited Away and Suzume. The film, directed by Haruo Sotozaki, follows four seasons of the hit series adapted from Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and it features voice-acting talents from Channing Tatum, Zach Aguilar, Abby Trott and Rebecca Wang.
As for JuJutsu Kaisen, the anime based off Gege Akutami’s manga series of the same name, premiered in 2020 with its prequel film, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, having arrived in theaters in 2021.
The next iteration of the series, titled The Culling Game Part 1, is scheduled to arrive on Crunchyroll in January 2026.
