Retired Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak — who helmed the Wheel for 41 seasons before giving the reins to Ryan Seacrest — is well-known for his dry sense of humor, seen daily on the beloved game show for decades … and now, occasionally in social media quips.
While Sajak, 78, usually leaves his social media presence up to his daughter, Maggie Sajak — who is the official social media correspondent for Wheel of Fortune — the legendary game show host still can’t resist a joke every now and then on his X account (formerly known as Twitter).
On Wednesday, October 15, Sajak took to X to share his tongue-in-cheek take on Ozempic, the viral drug that was originally intended for diabetes and has since transformed into a weight-loss drug, frequently touted by celebs — though still considered controversial, especially for those who are not overweight.
Sajak’s idea of the whole thing jokingly inspired him to open a line of “Ozempic restaurants” that don’t actually feature any food, as the GLP-1 drug is known to curb your appetite.
Sajak’s X post earlier this week marked his first time on the platform since New Year’s Eve, during which he not only celebrated the New Year, but also shared that he and his wife, Lesly Sajak, were celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary. (In addition to Maggie, 30, the Sajaks are also parents of son Patrick, 35, who is a doctor.)
Notably, Sajak did tweet one time — in fact, a one-word response — in between his New Year’s post and his Ozempic quip — to reply to a fan in July who asked if anyone else missed the Wheel host since his retirement. (“Occasionally,” Sajak replied.)
It seems like Sajak has upped his social media game this week after a months-long break from X, tweeting multiple days in a row following his Ozempic quip. The following day, for instance, he joked: “Would you find it at all troubling if you discovered that a friend of yours was hosting an imaginary game show in his basement? Asking for a friend.”
Though Sajak officially retired from Wheel of Fortune in June 2024, he was back on the air just months later to host the new season of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.
