Prince William plans to ban Prince Andrew from all royal events, including his future coronation, viewing his uncle as a threat to the monarchy
Prince William allegedly intends to impose a total ban on Prince Andrew’s participation in royal activities once he ascends to the throne.
The heir to the throne reportedly views his uncle as a liability to the monarchy and plans to bar him from both official ceremonies and private family gatherings, including the future coronation, according to palace sources.
Prince Andrew relinquished his Duke of York title on Friday evening following pressure from King Charles III and William. In a statement issued through Buckingham Palace, Andrew said the decision came “in discussion with the King” and “with His Majesty’s agreement,” claiming “the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the royal family.”

The 65-year-old prince attempted to frame his decision as honorable, stating, “I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first.”
The move came after mounting pressure regarding his connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and allegations he denies involving Virginia Giuffre, who died by suicide in April at age 41.
“The next monarch will be more ruthless. Buckingham Palace says the Prince of Wales was ‘consulted’ on the decision, but it is understood that he is not satisfied with the outcome and knows the ‘Andrew problem’ will be in his in-tray at some point. When William is King, Andrew will be banned from all elements of royal life. He will excluded from public and private royal events, including the coronation, and banned from most state occasions,” the The Times reported.
The 43-year-old Prince of Wales reportedly considers Andrew a “threat” to the institution and worries about the message his presence sends to sexual abuse survivors.
Despite the ongoing controversies, King Charles has permitted Andrew to attend family events since taking the throne, including Christmas celebrations at Sandringham and Easter services at Windsor.
Andrew stepped back from royal duties after his disastrous 2019 Newsnight interview, where he claimed he had been “too honorable” to end his friendship with Epstein by phone.
In 2022, he settled a lawsuit with Giuffre for millions, partly funded by Queen Elizabeth II and Charles, resulting in the removal of his HRH styling and military appointments.
William also plans to exclude Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, from royal events.
Ferguson previously accepted around $20,000 from Epstein and later apologized to him in an email, calling him her “steadfast, generous and supreme friend.”
