Gwyneth Paltrow shared how her husband was the inspiration for a new Goop Beauty body wash in a stripped-down Instagram video featuring her wearing a towel
She explained that her husband, Brad Falchuk, wanted a shower gel that “didn’t dry his skin out,” prompting her to come up with the Black Pepper + Ginger Grounding Body Wash
Paltrow has been married to writer and director Falchuk, 55, since 2018
Gwyneth Paltrow turned to a source close to home for inspiration for her latest Goop Beauty product.
In a stripped-down video shared by the actress on Instagram on Tuesday, July 21, she addressed the camera while wearing a towel to discuss the source of the idea for her brand’s Black Pepper + Ginger Grounding Body Wash.
“If I’ve been somewhere with a lot of people and I need, like, a good scrub down: body brush, sage myself and then shower,” Paltrow, 53, began, sharing her routine before getting into the product itself.
“This body wash we worked on for a long time,” she said. “It was really important to me that it have, like, a very grounding, beautiful smell. Black pepper and the ginger.”

The Marty Supreme star explained that she wanted the product to be “unisex,” because her husband, writer and director Brad Falchuk, 55, was “asking for a shower gel that didn’t dry his skin out.”
The body wash contains ingredients including aloe, green tea and glycerin, with the ingredients chosen “to really make the skin feel nourished, hydrated, soft and supple,” she said, telling her followers that “clean matters” because of how we “absorb up to 80% of what we put on our skin.”
She finished, “We helped really define clean, and every single one of our products is clean to our standards. Also, very luxurious and beautiful and efficacious.”
The launch comes days after Paltrow filmed another Instagram video in a towel — before cheekily dropping it and teasing a new product as the Goop Beauty logo flashed across the screen.
“Want to shower with us? The next addition to your daily ritual is dropping soon, from goop beauty,” the caption read.
Paltrow first launched Goop as a health and lifestyle email newsletter in 2008, before going on to start Goop Beauty and Goop Kitchen, among other lines.
