After hearing of his loss in a lawsuit against Disney, fomer 9-1-1 star Rockmond Dunbar threw a fit and screamed out for his family in the Los Angeles courtroom
Rockmond Dunbar was very expressive after hearing he had lost a lawsuit against Disney’s 20th Television.
A Los Angeles jury has finally made a decision on the 52-year-old actor’s two-year legal feud with the entertainment company and his claims of an unjust firing from Fox’s 9-1-1.
While working on the hit drama series, which had a “silly” crossover with Doctor Odyssey, in 2021, the actor refused to get the COVID-19 vaccine due to his religious and medical background, despite Disney and the show’s protocols requiring all staff to be vaccinated. Later that year, he was suddenly written off the show.

After being fired from the project, Rockmond sued the company. Within the legal documents, he claimed the production had been dismissive of his religious affiliation to the Congregation of Universal Wisdom, which is against vaccines and other specific medical interventions.
During the four-day trial, he shared his reasoning for the vaccine being contrary to his religious teachings.
“Man created the COVID-19 vaccine to separate you from God,” he testified. “This is a spiritual war. This is a war of evil against good. I stood on the side of good. I stood on the side of God. I stood on the shoulders of God.”
Disney’s attorney, Maria Rodriguez, challenged the actor’s beliefs by questioning him on his use of synthetic testosterone and anastrozole, which is considered by the Congregation of Universal Wisdom leader as “sacrilegious.”
She had also mentioned a list of 37 other medications he had taken. Rockmond attempted to rebut by saying he is “far from perfect,” but that wasn’t enough of an excuse for the lawyer.
“This is way far from perfect,” Maria said. “This isn’t even close.”
Now, a jury has rejected his claims, leaving him acting hysterically in a courtroom.
According to Variety, the actor put his head in his hands when the decision was revealed, followed by allegedly screaming out for his family.
He first shouted, “Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God!”
Afterward, he turned to his wife, Maya, and children to say, “I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry. We’ll be okay.”
In 9-1-1, Rockmond played Michael Grant, the ex-husband of Angela Bassett’s character, Athena.
Since he was fired from his “dream job” on the show, his family has suffered a detrimental financial loss, considering he was earning $100,000 per episode.
“I’m underwater. I’ve spent my entire retirement,” he confessed on the stand. “This has taken my life into a hole financially that I will never be able to get out of.”
This year alone, Rockmond has appeared on the big screen twice with a role in Tyler Perry’s drama film Straw and Rza’s One Spoon of Chocolate.
