Speaking in an interview with Variety, the ‘Black Panther’ filmmaker provided a significant update about the upcoming X-Files reboot and noted that he wanted to do it because of his mother. He said, “Like my relationship with Rocky with my dad, The X-Files is one of those things with my mom. My mom means the world to me — she’s actually here tonight — so this is a big one for me. I want to do right by her and the fans.”

Moreover, Coogler confirmed that his mother has read some of the stuff he wrote for the reboot and is absolutely “fired up” for the series to make a return. But one thing that he won’t confirm is the involvement of Danielle Deadwyler in the project. He dodged the question by simply saying that he can “neither confirm nor deny” the actor’s involvement.
It would be exciting to see how Coogler takes forward the legacy created by the sci-fi horror series in the 90s. In 2025, he reinvented horror with Sinners and gave a unique perspective on the stories surrounding vampires. The film went on to become a massive hit and grossed over $366 million at the global box office.
