Equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI, or alternative arrangements of those letters) has become a battleground in the US over the past year. But European indie body Impala has reaffirmed the importance of work in this area in its fifth EDI report, published today.
It provides an update on progress within its membership; talks about the pilot of a new EDI toolkit that launched in September; and rounds up research on the benefits of EDI for the music industry.
Adviser Keith Harris OBE pointed to the wider context in his statement on the report’s launch. “Seeing Impala’s executive board underlining the importance of EDI work as a priority for the sector sends the right message at a time when EDI is being pushed into the background elsewhere,” he said. “We must not lose sight of how easily these issues can slip down the agenda.”
