Maika Monroe is picking up the pieces in a romantic drama based on Colleen Hoover’s book Reminders of Him.
The trailer, which was released on Tuesday, October 21, begins with Kenna Rowan (Monroe) crossing paths with Scotty (Rudy Pankow) for the first time. As he purchases a single plastic yellow plate set, Lord Huron’s “The Night We Met” plays in the background.
“Come back soon,” Kenna says, while Scotty replies, “If you insist.”
After he returns to buy the plates again, Scotty asks Kenna out on a date. A montage of moments begins playing, including Scotty blowing out birthday candles and him and Kenna getting cozy outside.

In another clip, however, Kenna makes a tragic mistake that results in Scotty losing his life — and her spending time in prison.
“There was before you and there was during you,” Kenna says in a voiceover. “I never thought there would be an after you.”

Seven years later, after Kenna is released from prison, she sets off to rebuild her life. Kenna ultimately finds comfort in former NFL player and local bar owner Ledger (Tyriq Withers), who was Scotty’s best friend.
“When he died, we all came together to raise his little girl,” Ledger says.

Kenna also hopes to reconnect with her 4-year-old daughter, Diem, whom she has never known. Despite Kenna’s efforts, Diem’s custodial grandparents, Grace (Lauren Graham) and Patrick (Bradley Whitford), refuse to allow her to see her daughter.
“How dare she just show up?” Grace says when Kenna appears in the neighborhood, while Patrick adds, “If it wasn’t for her, our son would still be alive.”

As the pair develop a secret romance, Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” plays in the background.
“We’ve all been wrong about her. You’ve taken the worst moment of her life and made it into who she is,” Ledger says before Patrick punches him in the face.
When Kenna asks if Ledger hates her, he replies, “I’ve gone from hating you to wanting the whole world for you.” As Kenna and Ledger stand across from one another, she says, “I should probably go,” to which he says, “You should probably stay.”

Rounding out the cast is Kenna’s friend and coworker, Amy (Lainey Wilson), Kenna’s landlord (Jennifer Robertson), Ledger’s bar team (Nicholas Duvernay) and (Hilary Jardine) more. Hoover produced and cowrote the screenplay for Reminders of Him.
“I love stories about redemption and second chances, so when Lauren Levine and I chose which book of mine we wanted to adapt as our first Heartbones project, Reminders of Him was the first pick for both of us,” Hoover told People.

She continued, “Getting to be part of its journey from page to screen has made it even more meaningful. I wasn’t just watching someone else interpret the story, I got to help shape how it would live in this new form with a great team of women.”
The trailer for the adaptation comes more than one year after Hoover’s novel It Ends With Us made its big screen debut. Books Verity and Regretting You are also getting the movie treatment, while Confess is being adapted into a TV series.
Reminders of Him hits theaters on March 13, 2026.
