In recent years, there have been a handful of series that have managed to touch upon themes like grief and trauma without losing their heart. One such show is Shrinking, the comedy-drama series from Apple TV+, which sees Jason Segel and Harrison Ford in pivotal roles. The first two seasons went on to become a massive success for the streaming service and earned near-universal acclaim. So, it’s no surprise that the series has been renewed for a third season, and the streamer has finally announced the long-awaited release date.
In a press release shared by Apple, it announced that Season 3 of Shrinking will be available for streaming on January 28, 2026. The season premiere will be one hour long and will see Segel and Ford returning to reprise their respective roles. The premiere will be followed by one new episode weekly, every Wednesday until April 8, 2026.
The third edition will bring back most of the familiar faces from the first two seasons. Jessica Williams, Ted McGinley, and Christa Miller will return to portray their respective characters.
Meanwhile, Luke Tennie and Damon Wayans Jr. will also feature in the upcoming season. Apart from the stars mentioned above, Season 3 will also see the return of Brett Goldstein, Wendie Malick, and Cobie Smulders in guest roles.
Shrinking has been one of the most impactful shows in recent years. It is funny, yet it never loses its focus and continues to explore themes such as grief, trauma, and therapy authentically. These are some of the reasons why the Apple TV+ series resonates with viewers. The first season garnered a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while Season 2 received better reviews, attaining a rating of 97% on the review site.
Season 2 ended with Jimmy saving his friend Louis from a difficult situation and embarking on a journey to forgiveness. Season 3 would probably start from that very moment and see Jimmy continuing his voyage. Once again, it would be fascinating to see how it showcases that forgiveness matters the most and can relieve you from several burdens that hold you back.
