A Royal British Legion club is at the centre of a noise row after neighbours complained about too much loud music.
John Cordner, a company director, and his wife, Jane, have been disturbed by the noise coming from the social club in the Dorset village of Corfe Mullen.
They say that the monthly live music nights are a particular source of annoyance. However, these are a vital source of income for the charity, whose club has been in the village for 100 years.
The Cordners, both in their 60s, bought a £600,000 chalet bungalow next to the club in 2020, and kept a log of their grievances, which they have presented to Dorset council.
They allege that the club is failing to comply with the conditions of its alcohol and entertainment licence. Council officials are now reviewing the Corfe Mullen RBL’s licence.
Supporters of the club said veterans “deserve the right to walk into the legion and have a pint without any hassle”.
