Ubisoft has announced plans to offer voluntary redundancies to staff at its Swedish subsidiary Massive Entertainment.

In a post shared on social media, the studio said it had “introduced a voluntary career transition program” as part of its “ongoing evolution and long-term planning” to “ensure [its] continued focus on The Division franchise and technologies” including its Snowdrop engine and Ubisoft Connect.

The statement continued: “To support this transition responsibly, we introduced a voluntary career transition program, giving eligible team members the opportunity to take their next career step on their own terms, supported by a comprehensive package that includes financial and career assistance.”

Based in Malmö, Massive Entertainment is known for Tom Clancy’s The Division series, and recently worked on Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

GamesIndustry.biz reached out to Ubisoft for the potential number of staff affected, but the firm was unable to provide an answer.

According to French outlet Le Figaro (machine translated via PC Gamer), the “voluntary career transition program” is open until December 15, 2025, and is aimed towards “employees on permanent contracts waiting to be reassigned to a new project.”

Those who volunteer will reportedly “receive severance pay as well as assistance to finance professional training.”

Yesterday (October 22), Ubisoft disclosed a “restructuring proposal” for its Finland-based studio RedLynx, which could affect a maximum of 60 employees.

Ubisoft said this proposal aims to “reduce costs” and enable “stronger prioritisation and efficiency” across its network of studios.
