Major Puerto Rican content creator Keemz Alberio’s outfit at the 2025 Billboard Latin Awards made a powerful political statement for all to see Thursday night.
The 29-year-old influencer wore a black jacket that had they saying “Somos la voz Albizu” graffitied in white on the back for the awards ceremony. Translating to “We are the voice of Albizu” in English, “Somos la voz Albizu” is a phrase that Puerto Rican independence activists commonly use to acknowledge the legacy of Pedro Albizu, who’s a leading figure in PR’s independence movement.
“Somos la voz Albizu” serves as impactful rallying cry for modern activists who have taken up the mantle of fighting for Puerto Rico’s freedom like historic activists such as Albizu did.

Keemz outfit politically charged attire coincides with the ongoing backlash Latin superstar Bad Bunny, 31, is receiving from MAGA supporters over him being the Super Bowl Halftime Show performer for 2026.
After it was announced last month that he’d be headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show in February, MAGA erupted with outrage. One MAGA supporter even claimed that Bad Bunny didn’t deserve the slot because he wasn’t a U.S. citizen.
“Of course the NFL would announce a non-US citizen for the Super Bowl halftime show Right on queue,” one MAGA member wrote online. The incorrect remark screenshotted, shared, and slammed in a forum on Reddit in September.
Several Redditors pointed out the ignorance of the statement given that the Grammy-winning entertainer was born and raised in Puerto Rico, which is considered a territory of the United States.
“MAGAs are always erasing the fact that Puerto Ricans are US citizens from their memories. It must be a really traumatic thing for them to have to remember,” a commenter wrote in defense of Bad Bunny.
Bad Bunny addressed the controversy himself during his Saturday Night Live hosting appearance earlier this month. In his opening monologue he said, “You might not know this, but I’m doing the Super Bowl halftime show and I’m very happy and I think everyone is happy about it – even Fox News.”
More mocking of Fox News ensued as a heavily edited video that ran together comments of different Fox anchors and pundits saying, “Bad Bunny is my favorite musician and he should be the next president” was shown.
Bad Bunny continued: “Thank you. Wow, thank you. But really, I am very excited to be doing the Super Bowl, and I know that people all around the world who love my music are also happy” before speaking briefly in Spanish for mere seconds. He then concluded with, “If you did not understand what I just said… You have four months to learn.”
