‘Married at First Sight’ Season 19 Delivers Historic Family Wedding Surprise

Nearly 20 seasons in, Married at First Sight is proving the experiment still has surprises. The Season 19 premiere, which debuted October 23, 2025, on Peacock, ended with a shocking cliffhanger revealing something that has never happened before in the U.S. version of the franchise.

At the end of Episode 1, newlywed Josh meets his new wife Jalyn’s family. When it is just the couple and Jalyn’s mother, Belynda, she surprises Josh with unexpected news. “Tomorrow, I’m getting married,” she tells him. “I would like to invite you because you’re my new son-in-law.”

Josh is thrilled by the news, until Belynda drops an even bigger bombshell: “Also, I’m getting married at first sight as well.” The revelation, seen in the episode’s final moments, leaves both Josh and viewers stunned.

According to Dr. Pia Holec in Episode 3, this is a first for the Married at First Sight U.S. franchise: a mother and daughter will be getting married at first sight in the same season.

Belynda’s wedding aired in Episode 3. During the episode, viewers learned that her Married at First Sight journey began while her daughter Jalyn was being interviewed by Pastor Cal Roberson. In a flashback, Pastor Roberson calls Belynda and asks, “Okay, Mom, do you want to get married at first sight?” She replies, “Yes, I would love for somebody to match me professionally.”

Belynda hopes this match will last a lifetime, sharing, “I want this to be the last time I have to meet somebody for the first time.”

The experts feel confident about Belynda’s match with her husband, Chad. “I am excited to see what happens,” said Dr. Holec. Pastor Roberson agreed, adding, “Belynda and Chad I like them as a couple. He is a very fun-loving guy, I don’t think he takes life too seriously at all. Dr. Holec also noted that the pair share similar values. “The other thing is family is important to him, the family is important to her, they are so equally aligned in.”

The unique mother-and-daughter experiment continues throughout Married at First Sight Season 19, with new episodes streaming Thursdays exclusively on Peacock.
