Meghan Markle’s popularity in the UK has plunged even lower despite her recent efforts to revamp her public image, according to a fresh poll. The Duchess of Sussex’s approval ratings have nosedived since she and Prince Harry stepped back from Royal duties in 2020.
Harry and Meghan now regularly feature among the most unpopular royals, ranking just above Prince Andrew, who remains the most despised member of the Royal Family . A recent Ipsos survey found Meghan’s net favorability among the British public was the worst of six Royal family members – King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, Princess Kate and Prince Harry.
The market research firm, which surveyed 1,036 adults from October 20-21, found the Duchess’s net favorability sank to minus 39 as fewer than two in 10 Britons (17%) expressed a positive view of her.
At the same time, almost six in 10 (56%) voiced unfavorable opinions of her, resulting in her minus 39% net favorability rating. Some 25% reported having neither positive nor negative feelings, while 3% responded “I don’t know”.
Her husband fared somewhat better, achieving a minus 16% favorability rating, reports the Express.
Three in 10 (28%) expressed favorable views of Prince Harry, while approximately 4 in 10 (44%) held negative opinions.
Some 27% indicated they had no strong feelings either way, while 2% said “I don’t know”. Prince William emerged as the most favored royal, boasting a plus 58 score, with seven out of ten Brits expressing their fondness for him and only 11% stating otherwise.
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle has been actively promoting her philanthropic endeavors and advocating for mental health across the U.S., in what appears to be a revamped strategy for the Sussexes as they strive for reconciliation with the Royal Family.
