October is when the event calendar truly starts to ram up in the Sarasota area, and that’s certainly true of this concert picks installment, which is double the size of last week’s list.

Visitors to our area this week will include a rising country music star, Blues Music Award-winning and nominated artists, a New England singer-songwriter featured in Farrelly brothers films, a performer who played the late Lynyrd Skynyrd frontman Ronnie Van Zant in another movie, and a group on its way to Gainesville’s punk extravaganza Fest.

We also have musicians formerly from Sarasota and Tampa Bay making return appearances, and a Bradenton band playing a show in their Manatee County home. Here are this week’s highlights. Event details are subject to change.
