Yorgos Lanthimos said he plans on taking a break from filmmaking after making three films in three years with “Poor Things,” “Kinds of Kindness” and his most recent film, “Bugonia.”
The director shared details about the personal decision during an interview with Collider, published Thursday, where he was questioned about how fast and frequently he makes movies.
“I can’t keep doing that anymore,” Lanthimos said, calling the pacing a “big mistake.” “That’s what we’re certain of right now.”
“It’s a big mistake. I think I need a break,” the director continued. “I’ve said that before in between the other three, but I’m serious now.
