Earlier this year, Kelly Thiebaud shocked General Hospital fans by bringing her character Britt Westborne back from the dead. But that wasn’t the only resurrection shaking Port Charles, her brother Nathan West, portrayed by Ryan Paevey, also recently returned, sparking questions about what’s real and what’s not.
Speaking on the red carpet at the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in October 2025, Thiebaud opened up to several outlets, including Michael Fairman TV and Soap Opera Network, about Paevey’s surprise return as her on-screen brother.
On the show, Nathan dramatic reintroduction began with a car accident that left him unresponsive. Once he arrived at General Hospital, it was confirmed through DNA and fingerprint analysis that the patient was Nathan West, shocking the residents of Port Charles. When Nathan woke up, he revealed that he had no memory of the last seven years, forcing those closet to him to catch him up on everything that had happened since his ‘death.’
In an interview with soap opera journalist, Michael Fairman of Michael Fairman TV, Thiebaud revealed that Nathan’s comeback story had been planned for some time.
“I had a conversation with the writers and with Frank [Valentini, executive producer] about like how they were going to do this,” Thiebaud explained. “When they mentioned his name, literally my jaw fell to the floor. I was like, “What? Wow, I didn’t even think of this. This is brilliant. This is brilliant.” How they’re doing it, why they’re doing it, the story that’s going to be told, it’s going to be great. A lot of juicy stuff for us to play.
Thiebaud also teased to Soap Opera Network that Britt’s world is about to get even more complicated.
“Let me tell you, Britt is juggling a lot of balls right now,” she said. “I mean, there is so much going on and so many secrets and so many things that I can’t tell. But it’s so exciting to have Ryan back on the show and I can’t wait for that whole big reveal, but I can’t say anything.
