Meghan Markle has witnessed her tenth publicist exit in just five years, with Emily Robinson departing her position after joining the royal’s team in June. Emily’s hiring, as a former Netflix staffer, was reportedly controversial due to her connection with The Crown.
The previous year saw Josh Kettler, who worked as the couple’s Chief of Staff, leave his role after only three months.
His exit was characterized as a mutual decision, with sources indicating that the position “wasn’t the right fit”.
Royal expert Ingrid Seward thinks she may have figured out why the Sussexes’ employees typically depart within months of starting.
Speaking to The Sun, she remarked: “It must be quite chaotic working for the Sussexes. They’ve lost so many staff.
“It’s not that the staff stay for any length of time. They seem to make very brief appearances and then leave.”
Regarding why workers tend to quit quickly, she observed: “It’s obvious the job they’re expected to do is not the job they imagined they would have.
“And it looks to me as if Meghan is disagreeing with what they imagined [the Sussexes] should be doing.”
Speaking further about Meghan, she continued: “It seems to me that Meghan wants to control everything, so they certainly make some quite major PR errors.”
Still on the Sussex team are Liam Maguire, the director of communications in Europe, and Meredith Maines, the couple’s chief communications officer.
Earlier this summer, Meredith had a sit-down with the King’s press secretary, Tobyn Andreae.
This meeting is thought to have paved the way for the subsequent face-to-face between the King and Harry.
