Wicked fans, fret not. There’s still more Oz to soak up after you check out the highly anticipated sequel next month!
A new, immersive book is set to be released in early December, just in time for the holidays.
Wicked: The Ultimate Pop-Up Book, crafted by Matthew Reinhart and co-written by Chip Carter and Rui Ricardo, is available pre-order now and will ship after Dec. 2.
Inside the $75 hardcover, readers will find paper structures of key locations from Wicked and magical moments from the movie, with dozens of intricate and liftable flaps.
Added to that, the entire book also spreads out into a map of Oz. How cool!
Check out preview images in a recent Instagram post below, where fans took to the comments section to voice their excitement for the release. “This is stunning. I can’t wait to get it,” wrote one user.
Earlier this month, Wicked: For Good director Jon M. Chu debuted a new clip from part 2 of his film adaptation of the celebrated musical. The American filmmaker, 45, pleaded with audience members at the London Film Festival not to record or photograph the clip that played during the event, The Hollywood Reporter noted at the time.
Chu — who also helmed the first Wicked — also addressed the emotional press run for the 2024 film, when Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were often reduced to tears during interviews. He tried to clear the air as to why their behavior was appropriate.
“Everyone’s like, ‘The girls were so emotional. Why are they so emotional?’” he told the London crowd on Oct. 10. “It’s because we lived both movies. We lived their meeting, their separation, their death. We lived the whole thing before you ever saw one frame of it… When you guys catch up and see this movie, we already know what you’re gonna feel. I’m excited for everyone to be there and finally share it and you’re gonna see these girls are incredible.”
