MACON, Ga. (WGXA) — Four sold-out shows at Atrium Health Amphitheater and the Macon City Auditorium generated over $5 million for Macon-Bibb County.
In a release, Oak View Group, the operators of the Macon Centreplex, announced the live events earned these millions in just four days this month, per data from Visit Macon.
Fans traveled an average of 150 miles across Georgia and the southeast to see the Red Clay Strays, the Tedechi Trucks Band and Gov’t Mule perform on Oct. 9 and 11 at Atrium Health Amphitheater. Comedian Matt Matthews also performed two shows at the Macon City Auditorium on Oct. 12.
“This incredible milestone is a huge win for the entire community as the economic ripple effect from these shows reaches far beyond the stage,” said David Aiello, Oak View Group’s General Manager at Macon Centreplex, in the release. “These concerts generated an estimated $5-million in spending that ultimately benefit local businesses and showcase the vibrancy of Macon and Middle Georgia.”

We are setting the bar for the future of entertainment for our entire region and state.”
Visit Macon President and CEO Gary Wheat added in a statement that the weekend of events allowed Macon businesses to shine.
“We saw longer hotel stays and know that our visitors had the opportunity to experience our great attractions, events, restaurants, and shopping during their stay,” said Wheat. “This weekend allowed all of Macon to shine and to garner some incredible exposure to new and returning guests.”
