After two years that left little room for laughter, Punch, Tel Aviv’s first-ever stand-up and comedy festival, will bring on the jokes for three days, December 11-13.
Taking place at the Zionist House, the festival will feature homegrown comedians, a special Russian-language stand-up night, and The Harry Potter Stand-Up Show for the whole family.

Daniel Koren’s new stand-up show about love, gender, and the absurdities in between.
Yael Levental, the acclaimed actress, takes to the stage in a funny, personal, and sharply observed solo show.

The stand-up scene
“Stand-up isn’t just entertainment – it’s a cultural genre that embodies freedom of thought, artistic courage, and the ability to look reality in the eye without filters. The PUNCH Festival is part of our wider effort to strengthen the city’s cultural infrastructure and open new spaces for independent, original, and bold creation,” said Chen Arieli, the deputy mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, which is producing the festival along with To-Mix Productions.
Despite a thriving English-speaking stand-up scene in Israel, there won’t be any shows offering native English-language stand-up from Western immigrants, just Barak’s performance. It’s an issue that irks some of the funny folks.
“Even though the local English scene has been growing for years, it’s taken a while for most of the Israeli comics to notice it on their radar,” said Benji Lovitt, a Tel Aviv-based comedian and educator who has been performing at local venues for years.
“It’s the first time this festival is taking place, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. Though it does annoy many olim [new immigrants] when an English show is organized with native English-speaking comics excluded.”
