Liam Neeson’s 2021 action drama The Marksman is set to arrive on Netflix on November 14, according to What’s on Netflix.
Directed by Robert Lorenz, the film follows Jim Hanson, a retired Marine and rancher living near the Arizona-Mexico border. His quiet life takes a drastic turn when he encounters a mother and her young son cross the border onto his property while fleeing from a violent cartel. When the mother is fatally shot, Hanson undertakes a dangerous journey to fulfill her final wish. He sets out on a mission to escort the boy, Miguel to safety in Chicago.
Neeson takes on the lead role of Jim Hanson in the movie. The other cast members include Jacob Perez as Miguel, Katheryn Winnick as Sarah Pennington, Juan Pablo Raba as Mauricio, and Teresa Ruiz as Rosa.
Upon its theatrical release in January 2021, the movie received mixed reviews but was praised for Neeson’s strong performance and his on-screen chemistry with Perez. On Rotten Tomatoes, The Marksman maintains a 37 percent Tomatometer rating, based on 110 reviews.
Zoe Rose Bryant describes it as “conventional yet compelling action drama.” She wrote for the Loud and Clear Reviews, “The Marksman tells a straightforward story with few shocking twists or turns, but with such lively leads at the front of the film in the form of Liam Neeson and his child co-star Jacob Perez, one is able to overlook this otherwise predictable plot and enjoy the Eastwoodian epic for its sheer entertainment value.”
Following its theatrical debut, The Marksman went on to gross nearly $24 million worldwide (via Box Office Mojo).
