Chris Evans has landed a new role as a father.
The 44-year-old “Captain America” star and his wife, Alba Baptista, 28, welcomed their first child together on Saturday in Massachusetts, TMZ and PEOPLE reported.
Details about the baby’s name and gender have not been publicly disclosed.
Evans, who was born in Boston and grew up in Sudbury, had previously expressed his interest in being a father during a 2024 interview with Access Hollywood.
“I hope so. The title of dad is an exciting one,” the “Avengers” star said when asked about becoming a parent.
Speculation about a potential pregnancy began earlier this year following a comment from Baptista’s father, Luiz Baptista. On a fan account’s Father’s Day tribute, according to Parade, he reportedly wrote, “Many thanks dear Chris. Your turn is coming!”
Evans and Baptista, 28, were married in September 2023 during a private ceremony at a Cape Cod estate, Parade noted. Their wedding reportedly included notable guests from Evans’ Marvel films, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, and Jeremy Renner, along with actor John Krasinski.
Though generally private about their relationship, Evans has shared some personal details.
After their wedding, he told the Knot about his proposal: “I proposed to my wife in Portuguese. She’s Portuguese, so I learned how to say ‘Will you marry me?’ in Portuguese. I had practiced it all week.”
