Every season of The Golden Bachelor has to have a villain, and Nicolle Kate Briscoe stepped up to the plate for the second season with Mel Owens.
Viewers know that Nicolle took charge from the first episode, making sure to make out passionately with Owens as often as possible — and usually in front of the other contestants. She did not care. Still, the “Women Tell All” episode is often a place of reckoning for any reality show star, and it sounds like she’s learned a few lessons in a very public way.

The real trouble began on the Oct. 8 episode when she rubbed plenty of the women — and Bachelor Nation viewers — the wrong way. She claimed that the Season 2 Golden Bachelor contestants would reach “Housewives status” while insulting the Season 1 cast.
“If they’re smart, the way the publicity goes with our beautiful [cast]—I’m sorry, but the last cast? They weren’t so great-looking,” Nicolle claimed.
THE GOLDEN BACHELOR – “204” – As Mel’s journey continues, the stakes grow higher than ever. A one-on-one at the OC Fair leads to a surprise concert; and later, a beachside photo shoot pushes boundaries and buttons. Meanwhile, whispers swirl about one woman’s true intentions. That statement didn’t go over well with anyone, including an unnamed Season 1 woman who confronted Nicolle after the episode aired — and it sounds like she has some regrets about her choice of words.
“I really just heard from one, and I said, ‘I apologize, and you are right. That wasn’t kind.’ And then, I said something else that was also nice, but I don’t want to give away who it was,” Nicolle told Glamour in an Oct. 29 profile.
She didn’t end her mea culpa tour there, though. The 64-year-old yoga instructor reached out on her own accord to other members of the Season 1 Golden Bachelor cast.
“I sent an apology to a couple of people directly, and we’re good. I’ve had a lot of people say, ‘I forgive you. We’re good.’ And it’s really nice,” Nicolle added.
The women might forgive her, but there are plenty of Bachelor fans who probably won’t forget her villainous moments, though — that’s how reality show lore begins.
“I’ve told myself from the beginning, I’m not dating Mel—I’m dating America. I’m dating everybody watching, and not watching,” Nicolle said in the Oct. 8 episode. “That gives you exposure like you’ve never had.”
These are the type of quotes that get you cast on Bachelor in Paradise or a coveted spot on The Traitors, so Nicolle might get the last laugh in Bachelor Nation.
