Damai Entertainment Sets Int’l Release For $223M Hit ‘Dear You’

Uncommon things that have not walked the Earth in years return to life on Halloween.

That includes rock bands.

It’s been eight years since The Zou, which was one of Youngstown’s most prominent acts, last performed.

But the band will reunite Friday at Westside Bowl, 2617 Mahoning Ave., on the city’s west side.

The show will be a three-headed monster.

Khaled Tabbara, who fronted The Zou, and his wife, Katianne Timko Tabbara, now perform as Munnycat, an LA-based electro-pop band that recently released its first full-length album.

Munnycat will start the show that night. And the evening will end with one of The Zou’s notorious “Rocky Horror” music sets. Tabbara will be leading the charge on stage for all three performances.

It will be the type of party that hasn’t been unearthed in eons.

The show will start at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance at Eventbrite.com and $20 at the door.

Here are a few other ghoulish (and normal) events this weekend:

Vampire Circus will come to Powers Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 30). It combines Cirque acrobats and performers, dressed in terror-inducing costumes, in a theatrical show. Go to DeyorPAC.org for tickets (which will also be sold at the box office).

November Rain, the annual late-season fireworks show, will take place Saturday at Eastwood Mall in Niles. It will literally be the last bang of Daylight Savings Time. Fireworks will start at 9 p.m. The Prince Project, a Prince tribute band, will perform beforehand.

Iconic singer Judy Collins will return to the Mahoning Valley on Sunday for a 3 p.m. concert at the Robins Theatre in Warren. Tickets range from $79 to $44 at RobinsTheatre.com and the box office, 160 E. Market St.

At local theaters, there are three interesting Halloween-ish offerings:

“Three Viewings,” which looks in on  conversations during calling hours at a funeral home, is at Selah Dessert Theater, inside Selah Restaurant, Struthers, at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

“In the Zone,” which turns five episodes of “The Twilight Zone,” the landmark television series by Rod Serling, into live theater, is at the Hopewell Theatre, Youngstown, at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Go to HopewellTheatre.org for tickets. Saturday’s show is sold out. To learn more, click HERE.

“Living Dead: The Musical,” Rust Belt Theater’s annual spoof of horror flicks, is at the Youngstown Playhouse at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Call  330 507 2358 for reservations.
