Actor Jesse Eisenberg, perhaps best-known for his portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg in “The Social Network,” announced Thursday he is donating one of his kidneys to a complete stranger.
What is spurring Eisenberg to make such a significant gesture?
“It’s essentially risk-free and so needed,” Eisenberg tells TODAY.com. “I think people will realize that it’s a no-brainer, if you have the time and the inclination.”
He first revealed his intention to donate while appearing on “Today” on NBC. Host Craig Melvin was praising Zuckerberg for being a big supporter of blood drives, celebrity.land reports.
“Yeah that’s true,” Eisenberg said. “I’m actually donating my kidney in six weeks. I really am. … I’m so excited to do it.”
Eisenberg, 42, is starring in “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t,” the third film in the “Now You See Me” series, which is scheduled for release on Nov. 14. The film also stars Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Morgan Freeman and Mark Ruffalo.
Other hit films in which Eisenberg has starred include “Zombieland,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” and “The Village.”
