Former Dancing With The Stars professional and Mirrorball winner Maks Chmerkovskiy could be dropped from ever appearing on the show after he made comments about another dancer on the ABC show.
Speaking on wife Peta Murgatroyd’s The Penthouse With Peta podcast, the 45-year-old had a lot to say about the show, including its new additions, such as dancer Jan Ravnik. Chmerkovskiy didn’t hold back as he stated, “I’m sorry, Jan has absolutely no business being a pro on Dancing with the Stars.”
He then added that he believes Ravnik, 30, a former dancer for Taylor Swift, has “zero foundation technique, quality,” or “understanding of the partnership.”
Joining in the discussion, wife Peta shared, “He’s learning. He’s learning slowly. It’s his first season. We have to give him grace for not understanding foxtrot technique. It’s very hard to watch.”
However, her husband pushed back as he said, “No, we do not have to give him grace. Are you kidding me?”
The comments come as Ravnik and his celebrity partner Jen Affleck have been eliminated from the show after Halloween week and their performances. She hit back at the comments, labeling them as slander, as she defended their choice of a Taylor Swift song for their Halloween week performance. Speaking to Access Hollywood, she said, “I chose the song where, I feel like I’m at this stage, where like, people have like, you know with us being newbies, especially Jan, I think a lot of people have doubted us and I think have questioned if we’re actual contenders in this competition.
“I feel like this is the moment to just prove them wrong and that’s kind of what Taylor talks about in the song, she’s like ‘look what you made me do.’ That’s the energy that we’re bringing this week.”
