The Prince of Wales is in Brazil and in a new message, shared as
he touched down for this year’s Earthshot Prize ceremony, William
wrote about his excitement for his first visit to the South
American country.
Prince
William wrote about how he’s excited to “experience
Brazil’s vibrant culture, its extraordinary biodiversity, and above
all, the warmth of its people” as he arrives for the Earthshot
Prize, the United for Wildlife Summit, and COP30, which he is
attending on behalf of King Charles.
The fifth annual
Earthshot Prize is being held in Rio de Janeiro, its first time in
South America. Prince William said that with the eyes of the world
turning to Brazil for COP30, “there is no better place to
celebrate bold climate leadership” and encouraged people to
work together “with optimism and courage” for a more
sustainable future.
Prince William is in Brazil through Thursday, with engagements
centred on environmental solutions, introducing innovators,
investors and leaders for collaborative work, and meeting young
climate leaders, according to Kensington Palace.
Upon arrival in Rio de Janeiro, Prince William will attend a
Generation Earthshot event with young people learning how to be
effective climate leaders. He will also, naturally, attend a
football practice to learn how children are learning skills and
resiliency through sport.
Later, the Prince of Wales will attend the United for Wildlife
Summit. This year’s Summit has a special focus on topics related to
Brazil: the issue of “environmental crime and amplifying the voices
of Indigenous Peoples and local communities who play a vital role
as Guardians of our planet,” according to Kensington Palace.
The Earthshot Prize ceremony will take place on November 5,
with Prince William meeting with the finalists across the five
categories before attending the ceremony later in the day.
Performers include Kylie Minogue, Shawn Mendes, and Anitta, the
‘Queen of Brazilian Pop.’

On November 6, Prince William will attend the COP30 World
Leaders Summit on behalf of King Charles, and will deliver a speech
about urgent and inclusive climate action.
Kensington Palace shared a short
video of the culture of Brazil as the future king arrived in
the country. A message from Prince William, written in English and
Portuguese, read that he is “ready for a special few days in
Rio” before travelling to Belém for COP30.
