Simpsonville seeks new entertainment management for CCNB Amphitheatre

After nearly a decade of partnership, Simpsonville is cutting ties with the company behind operations at the CCNB Amphitheatre at Heritage Park and opening the door for new management at the popular entertainment venue.

According to Simpsonville Community Relations Specialist Justin Campbell, the city council unanimously voted on Oct. 28 to move on from TRZ Live management and take the CCNB Amphitheatre in a different direction. TRZ managed the event operations, coordinated with vendors for concessions, facility maintenance, marketing and promotions.

Here’s what to know about Simpsonville’s termination of its contract with TRZ.

When did Simpsonville first contract with TRZ?

The first agreement between the city and the then-TRZ Management was in 2017.

On Dec. 1, 2022, Simpsonville extended its contract with TRZ. The contract will be terminated on Jan. 30. According to the contract, the city had to notify the company 90 days before the contract agreement would be terminated.

The City of Simpsonville has contracted with TRZ Live for about eight years.

TRZ did not respond to The Greenville News requests for comments.

Is the city taking new proposals?

Campbell said Simpsonville will publish a request for proposals for CCNB Amphitheatre management.

The request will include deadlines and dates for submission. Campbell said the process will follow the city’s code of ordinances and state law regarding procurement of contracts.

Campbell said neither the Simpsonville City Council nor staff has contacted management groups about signing a new contract for management.

“The City and City Council are excited to move forward with fielding and meeting with qualified prospective candidates. Our goal is to select and enter into an agreement with a new venue management company by the end of the year. Given the time of year with the holidays coming up, that timeline may change,” Campbell said.

What’s the CCNB Amphitheatre?

The CCNB Amphiteatre at Heritage Park is located at 861 Southeast Main Street in Simpsonville. The 15,000-seat, outdoor venue was built in 2005 and welcomes about 100,000 guests a year.

The city owns the venue.

“City Council has the opportunity to consider a variety of professionals with different experiences and viewpoints regarding venue management and entertainment services. One component of that direction will include an increased focus on civic events and community,” Campbell said.
