In the third episode of Ryan Murphy’s new Hulu legal drama — which dropped on Tuesday, November 4 — Kim Kardashian’s character Allura Grant thinks back to her wedding day to Chase Munroe (played by Matthew Noszka), who, no spoilers, but suffice to say, she is no longer on good terms with.
The moment featured Kardashian’s divorce attorney and Chase exchanging vows on the beach as Lana Del Rey’s “Young and Beautiful” played in the background. The then-newlyweds run on the beach and embrace in a dreamy sequence.
Fans who have been keeping up with the Kardashians since the famous family’s original E! series was on the air will remember Del Rey’s 2013 tune, which was also featured in The Great Gatsby, was the same one that an orchestra played when Kanye West proposed to the reality star in 2013 at the AT&T Park stadium in San Francisco. The moment played out on season 9 of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
Though the Skims founder, 45, has always been a fan of the song — tweeting in May 2013 that she couldn’t get the song out of her head — it seems Del Rey held a special place with the former couple. According to E! News, the “Born to Die” singer also performed during their pre-wedding celebration at the Palace of Versailles in 2014.
“Kim and Kanye love her and were so happy she could sing for them,” an insider told the outlet at the time.
