Meghan Markle once had a number of requests when taking part in a charity trip to Rwanda, it has been claimed. The Duchess of Sussex, before marrying Prince Harry, was an “ambassador” for the Canadian part of the charity World Vision.
At the time, Meghan, 44, was still working as an actress on the hit show Suits. She was asked by the charity to do a high-profile visit to Rwanda to be part of a film about the charity’s work to build water wells. This visit took place in January 2016.
However, it is believed Meghan had a list of demands before taking part, with the duchess reportedly insisting on first-class travel, a two-man entourage and several suitcases of outfits. Veteran royal biographer Tom Bower wrote in his 2023 book Revenge: “The actress insisted on flying to Rwanda first-class and be accompanied by Gabor Jurina, a Canadian fashion photographer. Michael Goyette, an American hair and makeup-stylist was also listed as travelling with Gabor.”
Mr Bower claimed that Meghan’s demands exceeded the budget for the trip, with the film’s producer Brenda Surminski reportedly forced to drop out as a result.
