Legends & rising stars to perform in Bengaluru

Bengaluru is all set for the 28th edition of the Sri KK Murthy Memorial Music Festival Bengaluru at Chowdiah Memorial Hall. The five-day classical music fest brings together iconic Indian Carnat ic and Hindustani musicians, including Dr L Subramaniam & Party, Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma, Kaushiki Chakraborty and others, along with the rising young talents, for open to all concerts. ‘THIS FESTIVAL IS A TRIBUTE TO OUR TRADITIONS’“We are proud to honour eminent artists from both Carnatic and Hindustani music. Each year, the festival features renowned masters alongside promising young musicians. It’s a celebration of continui ty — honouring the gurus while spot lighting the rising stars who will carry the tradition forward,” says Dr Suma Sudhindra, Veena maes tro and executive director of the festival. The festival offers younger audiences early evening lobby concerts showcasing rising artistes.

Bengaluru has kept classical music alive for generations, and it continues to give both artistes and audiences a sense of belonging

‘THE ARTISTS ARE THERE, THE AUDIENCE NEEDS TO RETURN’While Bengaluru continues to support and nurture emerging talent in classical music, Dr Suma observes that reconnecting with the younger audience remains a challenge. “There’s no shortage of artists — everyone is performing so well. The challenge is the audience. The younger generation doesn’t come to concerts like before. Classical music needs to be experienced in person because it stays with you. Once they attend a live perfor mance, they understand its beauty,” she asserts.
