  • Lafayette offers a variety of events this weekend, from art exhibits to cultural festivals.
  • Activities include drop-in gaming for teens, art shows at the Hilliard Art Museum and a Tai Chi class.
  • The Holy Ghost Creole Festival in Opelousas will feature live music, a 5K run and traditional food.

With Halloween behind us, and fall is in full swing, Lafayette has a wide range of events for you and your families to enjoy.  

Here’s your guide to events in Lafayette this weekend 

Friday, Nov. 7 

  • Drop-in Gaming: Join old and new friends to play on various gaming consoles. Ages 12-18 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Located at Main Library Downtown, 301 West Congress St., Lafayette, LA 70501. 
  • Beyond the Botanical by Mare Martin: Mare Martin, a botanist and artist from Opelousas, explores nature, life, and death in Beyond the Botanical. Using painting, drawing, and sculpture, she turns art into a way of knowing, inviting viewers to experience the natural world with all their senses. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hilliard Art Museum, 710 E, Saint Mary Blvd., Lafayette, LA 70503. 
  • Fragile Matter by Manon Bellet, Hannah Chalew and Harriet Joor: Fragile Matter pairs the museum’s historic and contemporary voices, linking Harriet Joor (1875–1965) with Manon Bellet and Hannah Chalew. Rooted in Gulf South environmental awareness, the artists explore the delicate balance between humans and nature, highlighting sustainability, memory, and material practice. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hilliard Art Museum, 710 E. Saint Mary Blvd., Lafayette, LA. 

Saturday, November 8 

  • Holy Ghost Creole Festival: Experience Creole culture at the Holy Ghost Creole Festival in Opelousas, with Friday’s fried catfish and gospel performances, followed by Saturday’s 5K run, live zydeco music, and a feast of Creole favorites like backbone stew, barbecue pork steak and sweet dough pies. Enjoy local foods, music and community traditions all weekend, with dinner tickets available in advance or on-site. The event will take place at 10 a.m. at 788 N. Union St., Opelousas, LA 70570. 
  • La Tab Kreyol-Zoom Meeting: Herbert Wiltz and NUNU invite you to join the monthly La Tab Kreyol from noon to 2 p.m. at NUNU Arts and Culture Collective, 1510 Bayou Courtableau Hwy Arnaudville, LA 70512. 
  • Essentials of Tai Chi: Eugene Kwarteng, a CSCS and USA Weightlifting-certified coach, began practicing Tai Chi in 2016 and has trained under Dr. Robert Bacher, a 50+ year Taijiquan expert, since 2019. He teaches fitness and Tai Chi to help his community safely improve health, vitality, and overall well-being. The event will take place from 8 to 9 a.m at Cité des Arts 109 Vine St. Lafayette, LA 70501. 

Sunday, Nov. 9 

  • Affiliated Blind of Louisiana Inc. 2025 State Convention: Annual State Convention is a focused, multi-day gathering designed to educate, empower and connect blind and low-vision individuals within a state. The event will take place all day at 2219 NW Evangeline Thruway, Lafayette, LA 70501.  
  • Sensory Mornings: The Children’s Museum of Acadiana offers monthly sensory-friendly mornings for children with ASD or sensory processing disorders. Attendance is limited, with reduced lights and sounds, plus adaptive equipment like noise-reducing headphones and weighted vests. The event will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Children’s Museum of Acadiana, 201 E. Congress St., Lafayette, LA 70501. 
  • Veterans Day Celebration: Celebrate Veterans Day, honoring all who served from 5 to 7 p.m. at City of Scott, 916 Cayret St., Veterans Memorial at the Rail Scott, LA 70583.
