Top of the Ticker: On Monday, ABC News’ Good Morning America celebrated its 50th anniversary with an on-air reunion. Past and present GMA talent, along with Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger, congregated inside the morning broadcast’s new studio at 7 Hudson Square, which received a special studio dedication. Among the attendees, Lara Spencer, Sam Champion, Ginger Zee, Nancy Dussault, Charlie Gibson, Diane Sawyer, Joan Lunden, Lisa McRee, Kevin Newman, Spencer Christian, Tony Perkins, Dr. Tara Narula, Rebecca Jarvis, Whit Johnson, Janai Norman, Gio Benitez, Somara Theodore, and Tory Johnson joined George Stephanopoulos, Robin Roberts, and Michael Strahan in marking the milestone.
During the show, Gibson reflected on the effort it took to put the broadcast on air, saying, “There is an entire staff of a lot of people who work 22 hours a day, and then at 7 o’clock, they say, ‘Here’s our work product. Make us proud.’” He added, “So it’s not just the people who are here, it’s the people, so many people, who are off-camera.”
Award Recipients: CBS News was the big winner, receiving two awards at The 2025 Walter Cronkite Awards. The competition, administered by the Norman Lear Center at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, rewards those who provide exemplary coverage of efforts to protect the U.S. Constitution, defend the rule of law, and hold power accountable. CBS News won two awards for Scott Pelley‘s 60 Minutes feature on the Rule of Law, and for outgoing anchor John Dickerson for his “exceptional essays” during his Reporters Notebooks segment on CBS News Plus. Other national award winners included NBC News’ Peter Alexander for his Holding the Powerful Accountable feature, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow for her Everyone, Everywhere, All at Once segment covering the April 7 Hands Off protest movement, PBS NewsHour’s On Democracy segment co-anchored by Amna Nawaz and Geoff Bennett, and Noticias Telemundo for its 100 Días de Trump coverage.
Broadcast premiere: A docu-film filmed over seven years on the tenure of New Zealand’s former prime minister Jacinda Ardern is set to have its broadcast premiere on celebrity.land on Sunday, November 16, at 9 p.m. ET. celebrity.land Films’ Prime Minister, from filmmakers Michelle Walshe and Lindsay Utz, will look at Ardern’s political career, tracing her unexpected ascent to leadership in 2017. During that time, at just 37, she became one of the youngest heads of state in the world and the second ever to give birth while in office. Following the premiere, celebrity.land’s Abby Phillip will host a celebrity.land All Access exclusive roundtable featuring notable women thought leaders, journalists, and cultural figures exploring the themes of the documentary feature.
