Fall into autumn with a spooky fun run and live music, or crank up the creep at the Heard Museum’s fright night event. Check out these and other events in McKinney this October. This list is not comprehensive.

1. Stevie Nicks Tribute Concert

Dreams Unwind – A True Stevie Nicks Experience will perform a free concert at HUB 121. Stevie Nicks’ hits include “Rhiannon” and “Talk to me.”

2. “National Pastime” by the McKinney Repertory Theatre

Head to the McKinney Performing Arts Center to enjoy “National Pastime”, a musical about a struggling radio station in the 1930’s that invents a fictional, undefeated baseball team and broadcasts their incredible games in an effort to save the station.

3. McKinney Wine and Music Festival

Spend the day at District 121 to sample wine from local wineries and vineyards from around the world at the McKinney Wine and Music Festival. Guests can sample over 100 different wines while they enjoy live music from three different local artists.

4. Ratrodtober Fest

Head to Tupps Brewery in Downtown McKinney for Ratrodtober Fest, a celebration of muscle cars, classic cars, motorcycles and more. The event will feature local vendors, craft beer and live music.

5. Dia de los Muertos Festival

Celebrate the day of the dead at the McKinney Dia de los Muertos Festival at Dr. Glenn Mitchell Memorial Park. Festival-goers can compete in a costume contest, peruse wares from local artists and craftsmen, and enjoy live music.

6. Trick or Treat Trail

Check out the 1.2-mile trick or treat trail at Towne Lake Park. The trail will feature creepy characters, spooky stations and plenty of candy.

7. Fright at the Museum

Crank up the fear factor at the Heard Museum’s Fright at the Museum. This ages 21-and-over event will feature an adult twist on the Heard’s Halloween festivities.

8. Halloween at the Heard Natural Science Museum

Celebrate Halloween at the Heard Natural Science Museum, featuring lifesize dinosaur animatronics, trick or treating and a movie for all ages.

9. Pumpkin Dunk

Snatch a pumpkin from the floating pumpkin patch and make it spooky, or beautiful, at one of the decoration stations at the Apex Centre.

10. McKinney Monster Dash 5K

Get spooky at the Halloween Monster Dash 5K at the Towne Lake Park. Racers are encouraged to wear costumes. Participants will receive a medal upon finishing the 5K, and the event will feature local vendors and a costume contest.

11. Library Halloween Haunt

Bring the family to the John and Judy Gay Library for Halloween fun. The library will host a mythical creature scavenger hunt and a book autopsy station.

12. “Radium Girls” by the Young Actors Guild

Enjoy a performance of “Radium Girls”, a play by D.W. Gregory based on the true story of the Radium Girls of the 1920s, who were dangerously exposed to radium at their jobs at the United States Radium Corporation. “Radium Girls” is a production by the Young Actors Guild, and all performers are between the ages of 5-18.
