Louisiana artists tend to show up in force each year in the Grammy Awards’ Best Regional Roots Music Album category, and this year is no different. In fact, the 2026 category, which was announced Friday, is all about Louisiana — and most of the nominees are from New Orleans.

Kyle Roussel, Trombone Shorty with the New Breed Brass Band, Corey Henry and his Treme Funktet, and Preservation Brass and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band are all nominated for the Best Regional Roots Music Album Grammy. The other selection: “A Tribute to the King of Zydeco,” a tribute album to zydeco pioneer Clifton Chenier with songs by The Rolling Stones, Lucinda Williams, Taj Mahal, Charley Crockett and more.

A number of other Louisiana-born artists also earned nominations this year. Jon Batiste continues to rack up Grammy nods. His latest album, “Big Money,” is nominated for Best Americana Album, and Batiste also is in the Best American Roots Performances and Best American Roots Song categories.

Addison Rae, a Lafayette native now based in Los Angeles, first built a massive following on TikTok before releasing a popular 2023 EP, “AR.” Her first full-length album, “Addison,” exploded this year and Rae is now nominated for the Best New Artist Grammy.

Baskin native Lainey Wilson is up this year for Best Country Solo Performance, Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Best Country Song. And Chicago blues great Buddy Guy, who was from Lettsworth and cut his teeth in Baton Rouge, is nominated for Best Traditional Blues Album for his record “Ain’t Done With the Blues.”

Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Bobby Rush, both Louisiana natives, also are in the Best Traditional Blues Album category for their collaboration “Young Fashioned Ways.”

Pianist and New Orleans native Sullivan Fortner’s album, “Southern Nights” — which opens with a beautiful take on Allen Toussaint’s classic — has been nominated for the Best Jazz Instrumental Album. And a couple of Loyola University New Orleans graduates also share in Grammy wins: producer and guitarist Carter Lang is a co-writer on Justin Bieber’s “Swag” in the Album of the Year category; and vocalist Johnaye Kendrick is nominated for Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals for the work “Big Fish.”

See all the nominations at grammy.com. The 2026 Grammy Awards ceremony is Sunday, Feb. 1.
