Rosalía has already made Spotify history with Lux, her newest album. Rolling Stone can confirm that the “Berghain” musician broke the record for the most streams in the first 24 hours by a female Spanish-language artist on Spotify.
With more than 42.1 million streams on the platform on the first day, the singer broke the record previously held by Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season) in 2023.

Lux marks Rosalía’s first LP since 2022’s Motomami. The singer taps into opera and classical music and sings in 14 different languages on the record. Lux also became the first LP on Spotify to feature live translations with MusixMatch, so listeners could understand the multilingual lyrics as they listened to the album on the platform.
In an interview for The New York Times’ Popcast, Rosalía revealed that she turned to both Google Translate and a professional translator to help with phonetics and overall pronunciation, but even so, songs took several takes to get right. “It’s a lot of trying to understand how other languages work,” she said.
The album’s 15 tracks include collaborations with Carminho on “Memória,” Björk and Yves Tumor on “Berghain,” Yahritza from Yahritza y Su Esencia on “La Perla.” Rosalía worked with Daníel Bjarnason, who is the conductor for the London Symphony Orchestra, to executive produce the project.
A Rolling Stone review of the album gave it a five-star review, and lauded it as a record that “sounds like absolutely nothing else in music right now… It’s an album no other pop star could have made.”
