Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were among the guests at Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday party, with a body language expert suggesting the Duke of Sussex was in “spare mode” at the event.
The couple attended the glamorous Los Angeles party, which was held at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s sprawling Beverly Hills mansion, alongside other celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, Kylie Jenner and Bruno Mars.
Meghan wore an all-black outfit to the party, pairing a fitted long-sleeve top with a floor-length skirt which featured a high slit. Harry opted for a velvet tuxedo and the couple held hands as they were pictured making their way into the event, with Harry taking the lead.
Commenting on their arrival, body language expert Judi James suggested the entrance reflected Meghan’s return to acting, while Harry “seems to be back in ‘Spare’ mode.”
She explained to the Daily Mail, “Harry’s expressionless mode directs the attention to his wife here, although his ritual is one favored by the likes of Travis Kelce, with the outstretched arm held behind and away from his torso to suggest muscle power, and with his hand gripped around Meghan’s in a similar ‘Big Paw’ Travis grasp that speaks of a desire to protect as they go past the press.”
The body language expert said Meghan seemed to know she was a “big star” as she entered the party.
She explained, “There are several rankings of A-list body language behavior on arrival at a venue or party, and they vary between the Kim Kardashian ‘Solo Goddess’ camera-friendly look to an Adele ‘hiding my face with my bag’ pose that suggests she’s too cool and famous to need the publicity.
“A cut-off ritual like the lowered and hidden eyes suggests a coy lack of need to perform for the cameras, and it implies an assumption of rabid press interest rather than a courting of it.”
However, she suggested Meghan was also delighted at the attention as she gave a big smile to the camera.
Kris shared some pictures of her party on Instagram. “Magical night celebrating my 70th birthday with beautiful family and friends,” she captioned the post.
In the snaps, Kris was seen wearing a stunning Givenchy Haute Couture by Alexander McQueen dress. The red strapless gown featured flowing ruffles and pulled Kris in at the waist, showing off her slim figure.
She paired her dress with some black opera gloves and silver diamond jewelry.
Posing next to Kris in the pictures were celebrities such as Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys and Kylie Jenner, as well as her partner Corey Gamble.
