Prince Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were recently spotted for the first time since their dad, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, was stripped of his “prince” title and evicted from the Royal Lodge. And by that I mean paps got footage of them sharing what looked to be an emotional moment in the middle of the street in Mayfair.
Per the Daily Mail (who published the pics), Eugenie and Beatrice were “spotted chatting intensely in the street” and at one point appeared “to be consoling one another” before “sharing a close embrace as they said goodbye to one another.”
The princess aren’t often photographed out and about together having emotional exchanges, so if you’re wondering whether these photos were staged, you aren’t alone! And now insiders have told Rob Shuter’s #ShuterScoop that “the public display was anything but spontaneous,” with one palace aide saying “I think they knew exactly what they were doing. They’re rebranding as survivors — victims of their parents’ scandals, not participants.”
Another royal source adds “People want to forgive them. If they stay clean — no cash-for-favors, no scandals — the sympathy will stick,” while yet another notes “You can’t live rent-free at St. James’s Palace and Kensington Palace and cry poor on the pavement.”
FYI, sources have also confirmed that Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice will be retaining their titles—despite Andrew losing his. A Daily Mail insider says King Charles wants to “protect” his nieces and “wouldn’t have wanted to sign off on anything that would impact them.”
